An Offaly baby with a rare autoimmune disease is travelling to the UK for specialist treatment.

Just 30 others have the same condition as Daire McDonnell - who also has atresia of the bowel, making him susceptible to pneumonia and sepsis.

At just 6 months old, the Edenderry baby has had 5 surgeries to date, but still requires a liver transplant.

A GoFundMe page has raised over €17,000 so far to aid with his treatment and allow him to travel to Birmingham by air ambulance.
