A number of local jobs clubs are set to close on January 1st.
Offaly County Council is writing to the Minister for Social Protection calling for the closure of a local jobs club to be reversed.
Demonstrations are continuing for a second week outside employment services offices in Birr, Edenderry and Tullamore to protest their closure and privatisation from January 1st.
The move is being criticised as depriving the community of a service which matched job seekers with suitable employment.
