Offaly TD Wants Review Of Allocation Of Teachers In Rural Schools

Deputy Carol Nolan wants Minister Joe McHugh to take action to stop schools being further affected.

An Offaly TD is urging the Education Minister to review the allocation of teachers in rural schools.

Independent deputy Carol Nolan says schools are under pressure, and even at risk of teachers leaving, due to unrealistic targets for pupil numbers in small schools.

She says the current policy, which was introduced in 2012, is not fit for purpose, and is having a devastating impact on communities in Laois and Offaly.

Deputy Nolan is calling on Minister Joe McHugh to follow up on the promises he has previously made to update this policy:
