One in five patients without a bed in Irish hospitals today are in the midlands.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses And Midwives' Organisation show 135 people are on trolleys across Ireland.
That includes 16 in Mullingar Regional Hospital and six in Tullamore.
While a further four people are on trolleys in Portlaoise Regional Hospital.
