Petition To Return Train Service To Laois Town Reaches 2,000 Signatures

It's hoped at least 3,000 people will support the petition before its presented.

A petition to restore a train service to a Laois town has gained more than two thousand signatures in three weeks. 

Mountmellick's Paddy Brazil says people are even coming to him from the surrounding areas of Laois just to sign the petition - which highlights strong support behind the idea.  

A sit down meeting is being sought with Transport Minister Shane Ross to present the idea.

Mr. Brazil says the response has been overwhelmingly positive:
