They're going to seek assurances from Michael Martin immediately.
The Portlaoise Hospital Action Committee is seeking clarity "once and for all" on the future of the Emergency Department.
Chairman of the group, Thomas Timmons, says while speaking to them earlier this year, Micheál Martin said he couldn't see why Portlaoise Regional Hospital would be downgraded, as recommended in a report in 2014.
Mr. Timmons says they're planning to now hold the Taoiseach to that, and get assurances that the ED won't be shut.
