Recruitment And Retention Issues Blamed For Hearing Test Waiting Lists

Deputy Brian Stanley broached the issue with Minister of State for Disabilities in the Dail.

Difficulties in the recruitment and retention of staff are being blamed for long waiting lists for hearing tests in the Midlands.

Minister of State for Disability Issues Finian McGrath addressed the issue in the Dail saying the situation has been exasperated by the resignation of the paediatric audiologist for the Midlands in March. 

Laois Sinn Fein TD Brian Stanley highlighed figures that show children aged between 5-17 in the Midlands could be waiting up to three years to see a hearing expert.
