Austin Stack will run alongside TD Séan Fleming.
Fianna Fáil have confirmed there will be another name on the ballot for Laois.
Former Assistant Governor in the Irish Prison Service Austin Stack, will be running for the party as a candidate in the upcoming general election, alongside sitting TD Séan Fleming.
His father, Brian Stack, served as Portlaoise Chief Prison Offcier and was shot by the IRA in 1983 and died the following year.
Mr Stack says he is not afraid to be a strong voice for the people of Laois on a national level.
