Figures form the Banking and Payments Federation show consumers made over 1 point 4 billion contactless payments - to the value of almost €25 billion - in the 12 months to the end of June.
Dublin is leading the way for the number of contactless payments per capita, at 395 - more than 40% above the national average with Laois following at 244.
Offaly had the second lowest contactless payments per capita in the country, at 146, while the figure is 185 in Westmeath and 244 in Laois.
