Tech Companies Calling For Ministers To Support Their Facilities

A Westmeath environmentalist says these companies should follow guidelines from the energy regulator.

An environmentalist says reports of tech companies making a demand that the government issue a policy statement on data centres is 'offensive'.

The Business Post reports that Google, Amazon and Microsoft are calling for ministers to issue support for the facilities and direct government departments to support them.

There are concerns around the amount of energy the centres use, with fears about future blackouts in Ireland.
