The town has been struck by a number of closure announcements in recent times.

An Offaly business representative group believes smaller independent local businesses are facing major challenges.

This comes following the recent closure of local retailers in Tullamore, including Children's clothes shop Carinas, and the Better Buys store.

Businesses are blaming increases in rates, the minimum wage hike, added holidays and sick leave for the closures.
