The Rural Independents today reported some young people are waiting 45 weeks for a test in Kerry.
In the midlands, provisional licence holders have a six month wait in Mullingar, while both Portlaoise and Birr have a backlog of 23 weeks.
The shortest waiting time in the region is in Athlone at 13 weeks, with those in Tullamore are on the list for approximately 15 weeks.
Minister of State for Transport, Jack Chambers, says unfortunately this is a trend seen across testing centres nationwide.
He says they hope to meet the 10 week service level agreement by the middle of 2024:
