Westmeath Environmental Expert Says Lack Of Recycling Facilities Is Holding Us Back

The government is not going ahead with its 'latte levy'.

A Westmeath environmental planning consultant is surprised that the government isn't pushing ahead with a tax on disposable coffee cups. 

The 25c levy was dubbed the ''latte tax'' - but the threat of the charge forced many cafes to change to reusable cups causing Minister Richard Bruton to postpone the idea. 

However a 25c increase will be added to the cost of a re-usable plastic bag - bringing the cost of one to 95c.
