A Westmeath man is in court facing an accusation of stealing thousands of euro woth golfing equipment from his employer, according to the Irish Independent.
26 year old Matthew Maslin from Petitswood Manor, in Mullingar was fired from the Mullingar Golf Academy, in Cullionbeg on suspicion of stealing a number of high value golf clubs between October 2024 and May of last year.
The alleged theft, which included drivers, fairways woods, and wedges made by Taylormade, Ping, and Titleist, amounts to a total of seven thousand euro.
Mr Maslin is accused of selling the stolen items online, with Mullingar District Court hearing he made full admissions to the thefts when interviewed by Gardaí after a complaint was lodged by his former employer when he was dismissed.
Sergeant Sheila Kenny told the court he was co-operative with a garda investigation that followed.
Maslin's defence solicitor asked for an adjournemnt so she could see what her client had said in the interview ahead of a plea being entered.
That application was granted with the accused remanded on bail until a sitting in Mullingar District Court on January 14th.
