Westmeath has been recognised as Volunteer of the Year at the Water Safety Awards.
Gerry Flannery was one of only two people to be presented with the 50 year Gold Medal Life Service award, with Brian Fagg receiving a 40 year Life Service award.
There was a total of eight people who received Life Service awards from safety group overall.
