The incident involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, and occurred in Daingean at around 5pm yesterday evening.
The young boy was taken to Children’s Health Ireland Hospital at Temple Street.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision, particularly those with camera or dash cam footage, to come forward.
