Members of North Midlands and Portarlington Credit Unions can now access the Greenify Carbon Calculator.
Credit unions in the Midlands are urging customers to try a new tool that measures the environmental impact of lending for solar panels and electric vehicles.
North Midlands Credit Union, based in Mullingar, and Portarlington Credit Union are offering the Greenify Carbon Calculator, which tracks carbon emissions reduced through those loans.
The two branches are under Collaborative Finance, which owns the national green lending scheme, which offers five point five per cent loans for EVs and home efficiency
The pilot programme of the carbon calculator saw 149 green loans across the 34 participating credit unions, with an estimated annual carbon reduction of 195 tonnes of CO2.
