Valentines Florist Spend Peaks With Last Minute Shoppers on Feb 14th

And Barclays snaps up Tesco Bank.

Valentines spend in florists peaks between 4pm and 5pm on February 14th, as people shop last minute on the way home from work. 

New research from AIB has shown the average amount spent on flowers for loved ones on the day is around 45 euro. 

It also found the cinema and bowling alley are top date spots on the day of love. 


Barclays has announced it's buying the retail arm of Tesco Bank, and will be taking on its two-thousand eight-hundred staff.
The UK bank says it expects to pay 600-million pounds for the loans, savings, credit cards and operating systems of the supermarket.
Some elements - like travel money and cash points - are not included in the deal.


Looking at today's Currency Markets, one euro buys you 85 pence sterling and one dollar, 07 cent.
While the ISEQ Index of Irish Shares is at 9264, down .28% since the opening.
