90 Amateurs To Compete For Mullingar Scratch Trophy This Weekend

Two local golfers are in the field.

This weekend sees the return of the Mullingar Scratch Trophy for a 58th year. 

90 golfers will play behind closed doors over two days on Saturday and Sunday in one of the most prestigious events on the amateur circuit. 

Last year's champion John Murphy won't be defending his title, he's teeing it up in the US Amateur Championship this weekend. 

Two local golfers are in the field, Liam Grehan will begin his first round at 7:40am on Saturday morning with Adam Smith due out at 10 past 11.

Chairman of the Scratch Trophy event Andrew Maslin is hopeful the trophy will stay in Westmeath:
