The IRFU is confirming that the bottom two flights of the Energia All-Ireland League will be regionalised.
Divisions 2B and 2C will be split into north and south sections next season, with Division One A and B unchanged.
The IRFU's Director of Rugby Development, Colin McEntee, says it will help to reduce travel costs for teams and will ensure the "long-term sustainability" of the AIL.
Head Coach of Buccaneers Rugby Club, Darin Claasen believes changes are being made due to the distance teams are travelling for matches.
