The Clonbullogue man is now 30 points behind leader Gabriele Minì.
Alex Dunne finished 7th in the Austrian Grand Prix Formula 2 feature race yesterday.
The Offaly man had a strong showing earlier in the weekend where he placed 4th on Saturday, narrowly missing the podium.
Starting from the front row in Sunday's main race, Dunne briefly led the field ahead of eventual winner Nikola Tsolov.
However, pit stops and tyre wear hurt his pace, causing him to drop to 7th on the final lap.
Dunne now sits 4th in the Formula 2 Drivers' Championship with 78 points, while Gabriele Minì leads the standings on 108 points.
