The teenager has been handed a penalty ahead of his next race in Barcelona.
There was bad news for Offaly's Alex Dunne over the weekend, as the 19 year old was involved in a 11 car collision in the Formula 2 Championship Feature Race in Monaco.
The Clonbullogue man came into the race in pole position having secured the quickest time in Qualifying.
However, Dunne was overtaken by Victor Martins coming into the first corner, the Offaly man then tried to hold his line, but ended up in a collision with the French man that triggered a huge pile-up.
As a result of not finishing the race, his penalty has been converted into a 10- place grid drop.
The Irish driver has also been assigned three penalty points for his role in the incident. He will serve the grid penalty at the next race in which he competes.
Despite been forced to retire from the race as a result, the teenager still sits second in the overall standings, three points behind British driver Luke Browning.
