The club have released a statement after a disputes resolution process found in their favour.
Gracefield GAA is tonight thanking all those involved in the lengthy and winding process that has seen them confirmed as group winners in their Offaly Senior B Football Championship campaign.
While Gracefield remain in a county semi-final after the Disputes Resolution Authority's decision to find in their favour, it does mean Ballycumber's quarter final loss to Gracefield is voided.
Their reprieve is another shot at the semis with a game against Clonbullogue.
The Championship's decider has also been moved as a consequence. This year's Senior B final will take place on the first full weekend of October (6th - 8th) instead of September 23rd/24th.
It appears Offaly GAA failed to follow the correct procedure to enact a national change in the rules regarding clubs finishing on the same points so that when Gracefield, Ballycommon, and Clonbullogue all finished their group stage on the same points, the dated regulations were applied.
Despite having to play their quarter final, and failing in an appeal to Leinster Council, Gracefield were ultimately found to be correct in their conviction by the DRA.
Speaking to David Hollywood, Tullamore Tribune's Kevin Corrigan gives a rundown of what happened:
Their statement in full:
Following our appeal and the ruling of the DRA on the matter, the club would like to issue the following statement, thank you to everyone involved and the show of support in this appeal.⚫️🔴⚫️ pic.twitter.com/VWJKAJ47PR
