Players will have their first collective session in three months today.
Athlone Town Manager Adrian Carbery is confident there will be a return to First Division football in August.
He says the club has been ready behind the scenes to return to play for a number of weeks.
The players will be taking part in their first official training session since March this morning.
Carbery predicts that change won't be felt in the League of Ireland until next season:
