There were wins for Treaty United and Waterford, while Galway and Cork had to settle for a share of the spoils in their top of the table clash.
In the Premier Division, Bohemians, UCD and Derry City all picked up wins. Dundalk and St Patrick's Athletic played out a pulsating draw last Friday.
All of which was good news for Shamrock Rovers who opened their gap at the top of the league to eight points.
