Jack Doherty netted a second half winner for Cobh Ramblers.
Athlone Town missed out on the chance to climb into the top three in the League of Ireland First Division at the weekend.
A second half strike from Jack Doherty was enough for Cobh Ramblers to secure a 1-0 win and all three points.
Dario Castelo's side now sit five points behind the Cork side in the table and are just one point ahead of Wexford in fourth.
The Town's next fixture is at home to Kerry this Friday night.
