Athlone Town End League Campaign With Defeat To Bray

They now look ahead to their FAI Cup Quarter-Final at the weekend.

Athlone Town ended their SSE Airtricity First Division Campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Bray last night. 

A Ryan Graydon free-kick two minutes from half time the difference. 

Before that Taner Dogan had a great chance to give the hosts the lead, while Mark Birrane struck the post late on as the midlanders pressed for an equaliser.

It means they slipped to a 9th place finish, behind Shamrock Rovers Two on goal difference. 

Drogheda United were crowned champions, with Bray, Longford, Cabinteely and UCD contesting the playoffs.

Next up for Adrian Carberry's charges is an FAI Cup Quarter-Final with Shelbourne on Saturday at 3pm in Lissywoolen.
