They're hoping to build on positive strides in their underage teams.
Athlone Town Ladies side start their first ever senior women's campaign on Saturday.
They'll begin by hosting last seasons third place finishers Wexford Youths in Lisswoolen.
Wexford opened up their campaign last weekend with a 4-1 win over Bohemians.
It's a tough opening month for the midlanders, they'll take on champions Peamount, Shelbourne and Galway in the first bloc of fixtures.
Manager Tommy Hewitt says it's a young squad but he's confident they'll acquit themselves well:
Saturday evening will be an historic occasion in the Athlone Town Stadium as our first ever Senior Ladies Team take to the pitch for their first ever game in the Women's National League.
