The national flag of Ukraine will be flown over Athlone Town's home ground this Saturday evening when the club's senior women's side host Wexford Youths in the WNL season opener.
Earlier this week, the club decided that it would donate the game's proceeds to help aid the millions of innocent people left devastated by the conflict to the Irish Red Cross's Ukraine Appeal.
This small gesture has received a lot of positive public support over the last few days. However, the club says more needs to be done.
They're calling on the people of Athlone and beyond to come along to the game and help support the Red Cross's efforts to provide much needed aid as well as to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
In addition to flying the Ukraine's flag, their players will take to the field at Athlone Town Stadium wearing the Ukrainian colours over their match-day kits.
The game kicks off at 7 o'clock this Saturday evening.
Athlone Town is encouraging everyone who plans to attend the tie, irrespective of which of the two teams involved in the match they support, to wear, wave or brandish the yellow and blue of Ukraine.
They're encouraging those who cannot attend the game to consider donating to the Irish Red Cross here.
