The Midlanders controlled much of the contest, with two goals in seven minutes from Natalie McNally and Kelly Brady giving them a 2-0 halftime lead.
Shelbourne were calling for a red card after Keeva Keenan had to be stretchered off midway through the second period.
The Dubliners then saw Jemma Quinn given a straight red for a dangerously high tackle on Kate Slevin.
