Ciaran Kilduff suffered his first defeat as Athlone Town manager at the hands of Shelbourne on Saturday.
In what was the fourth meeting between the two sides this season, The Dublin side came away with a 2-1 win to take all three points.
Noelle Murray and Morgan Rees got Shelbourne's two goals in the first half, while Madison Gibson was on target for the midlands side.
The Town remain in 7th in the league table, three points off Wexford in 6th.
Kilduff's team return to action at home against fourth placed Bohemians on Saturday.
