A disappointing final round including six bogeys saw Shane Lowry drop down the leaderboard on the final day.
The Open Champion did manage to claw back three shots on 2, 13 and 18.
It left him signing for a three over par round of 75 and a four under par score for the tournament.
Pádraig Harrington has finished in a share of sixth place.
Paul Casey claimed the title, finishing on 17 under par.
SAT - PM:
A bogey free 67 has moved Shane Lowry into a tie for 10th at the Dubai Desert Classic.
Birdie's on the 2nd, 10th, 13th, 14th and 17th capped a super display with the irons for the Open Champion.
He's joined on -7 by Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington who shot a three under par 69 today.
They're both 8 strokes of the lead which is being held by England's Paul Casey on 15 under.
Casey himself put in a superb show of putting to sign for an 8 under par round of 64.
Shane Lowry will get his final round underway at ten past 8 Irish time alongside the Belgian Thomas Detry.
FRI - PM:
A steady round from Shane Lowry has seen him make his first cut of the new year on the European Tour.
Two birdies and two bogeys spread evenly across the front and back nine saw The Open champion complete his early morning round at level par, leaving him 2 under par overall and in a tie for 31st.
Padraig Harrington is three-under-par after 16 holes of his second round.
He's six shorts behind clubhouse leader Robert MacIntyre.
Graeme McDowell will miss the cut after ending today on five-over.
Thurs - PM:
A birdie - birdie finish has left Shane Lowry as the leading Irishman on day one of the Dubai Desert Classic.
The Open Champion had bogeyed 15 and 16 and was in danger of losing touch with the top of the leaderboard.
He's posted a two under par round of 70, including four birdies.
That leaves him six shots back of the current leader Richard Sterne who's on 8 under.
He will be back on the course at ten to four tomorrow morning Irish time.

The Open Champion will be looking for a better start than seven days ago at the HSBC Championship, where a triple bogey in his opening round left him battling to make the cut.
He tees off around ten past eight tomorrow morning alongside Danny Willet and Graeme McDowell.
