Offaly lost out by the narrowest of margins in Mullingar last night.
Offaly boss Ken Furlong couldn't hide his disappointment following his side's defeat in the Leinster Minor Football Final last night.
A spirited second-half comeback ultimately wasn't enough as Meath came out on top, 1-7 to 1-6 in Mullingar.
It all came together for Offaly in the final fifteen minutes as 'The Royals' had built a 1-5 to 0-3 lead at the second half water break.
From that point they found another gear and that's when Pauric Robbins found the net just before leaving the field of play.
That green flag was swiftly followed by two white ones courtesy of Jamie Guing.
With the sides level Meath once again dug deep to hit back to back points and despite another free from the boot of Guing, Offaly were unable to find the leveler at the death.
A tremendous effort and a handful of this side will be in line to make the step up to senior level sooner rather than later if their physique and fitness levels are anything to go by.
Speaking to our commentator Brian Gavin afterwards, Ken Furlong was philosophical:
Offaly scorers:
Jamie Guing (0-4,2f), Pauric Robbins (1-0), Keith O'Neill, Cormac Egan (both 0-1).
