Declan Kelly's appointment to the post of Offaly Senior Football Manager will be broadly welcomed in the county, according to midlands 103 commentator Brian Gavin.
Gavin believes the likely plan was to bring him in for 2024 or the year after, but the sudden passing of Liam Kearns in March, and Martin Murphy's decision to step away from the role in recent week has necessitated an earlier start.
Kelly will be expected to start on a strong footing with many of the younger members of the panel after leading the county to All Ireland Under 20 success in 2021.
