The Combined Counties Cup also got underway over the weekend.
Monksland United and St Peter's picked up big wins in the Senior Division of the CCFL over the weekend.
Monksland Utd secured a 3-1win over Coolraine, while St Peter's were too strong for Clara Town as they ran out 6-1 winners.
Victory leaves St Peter's top of the table, just one point above Monskland United.
There were also wins in the first round of the Combined Counties Cup for Portlaoise,Gallen Utd, Maryborough FC, Longford Rovers, Inny FC, Tullamore Town and Rosenallis.
