Mullingar's Ciaran Murphy Strikes To Win Roscommon Maiden

It caps a fine couple of days for the midlands on the track.

The opening race of an afternoon meeting at Roscommon yesterday was a maiden over 7 furlongs. 

The €8,000 prize was scooped by Mullingar based Ciaran Murphy with his charge Pride of Derry at the fourth attempt of asking under Declan McDonagh. 

The 3 year-old had previously hit the crossbar twice, finishing 3rd at Down Royal and 2nd in a maiden at Galway. 

Owners Railway View Stud Partnership are well known to those at Charlestown Racing as they also have runners over jumps. This is their first flat horse in training. 

It caps a fine 24 hours for the midlands as well known Offaly syndicate 'Whitegrass Racing' had another trip to the winners enclosure at Tramore. 

Their latest filly Tasiteasai, trained by Willie Mullins cruising around the Waterford course to take the closing bumper on Sunday. 

Steered to victory by the trainer's son Patrick, the 4 year-old had more than three lengths to spare over her rivals will now surely be aimed at bigger targets going forward.
