The 4-1 fighter is scheduled to make his début against Mike Jackson on April 23rd.
MMA prospect Dean Barry has become the latest Irish fighter to sign for a major organisation announcing his addition to the UFC roster this week.
The 4-1 fighter is scheduled to make his début against Mike Jackson on April 23rd on a card headlined by Women’s Straweights Amanda Lemos and Jéssica Andrade.
Taking to his Twitter account to announce his signing “The Sniper” stated:
“Last week I was about to start a 5am job picking boxes for minimum wage 6 days a week. Now I’m in fight camp for my UFC debut”.
Barry was originally set to fight Jackson in back in January 2021, with Jackson pulling out due to injury.
Visa issues then further complicated Barry’s arrival to the company which ended his first stint with the UFC without a single fight in the octagon.
He left opting to fight for Titan FC in December where he won by first round knock-out in just 21 seconds and is now once again set to début for the UFC against Mike Jackson having sorted out the issues that forced his initial departure.
While Barry may lack professional MMA experience with just five fights on his record he holds a wide array of accolades that make up for that including five kick-boxing world championships and 11 Irish titles.
He has also been an in demand sparring partner working at Tristar in Canada to prepare UFC Hall Of Famer Georges St-Pierre for his final fight as he captured the Middleweight title against Michael Bisping in 2017.
