The Athlone man is looking to bring the Bit O' Red to the top of the women's game.
Former Athlone Town manager Tommy Hewitt says he's "delighted" to get back in to managing in the women's top flight.
Hewitt will replace Steve Feeney at the helm of Sligo Rovers from the end of this season.
The Athlone man led the midlanders to an FAI Cup final, and was narrowly pipped to the Women's Premier Division title by Shelbourne last year.
He was voted as SSE Airtricity Manager of the Year for 2022, and followed that up by leading Town to victory in the inaugural Women's President's Cup at the start of this season.
With league results slipping and a number of the club's best players having moved on, Hewitt decided to step down from the role in June.
