Deschamps Won't Blame Mbappé; England Plot German Downfall

France boss Didier Deschamps says it "hurts" to be knocked out of Euro 2020 on penalties to Switzerland.

With 10 minutes to go in the last-16 tie, the world champions led 3-1 but their opponents scored twice to make it 3-all and take the game to extra-time.

Kylian Mbappe then missed the decisive kick in the shootout.

Deschamps won't blame his star striker.

Switzerland will now play Spain in the quarter-finals. 

Luis Enrique's side advanced after a dramatic tie with Croatia.

Two goals in extra-time helped them to a 5-3 win, after it finished 3-3 in the regulation 90 minutes. 

England manager Gareth Southgate says his team has the chance to "make some history" when they play Germany in the last-16 of Euro 2020 this afternoon.

The rivals meet at Wembley hoping to seal a place in the quarter-finals.
