The opening round saw some big results in Offaly, as well as a scoreboard malfunction in Laois.
In the Laois Shopping Centre Senior Hurling Championship, reigning champions Clough-Ballacolla got off to a winning start with a comfortable 1-24 to 1-14 win over Castletown.
Last season's beaten finalists Rathdowney Errill also secured an opening round win as they defeated Rosenallis 5-18 to 2-12.
In a repeat of last season's intermediate final, Borris In Ossory Kilcotton were one point winners over Ballinakill.
The Harps secured a big win over 2023 finalists Abbeyleix St Lazarian's on a scoreline of 2-20 to 2-17.
But the real drama came on Sunday evening when John Mark Foley's second goal on 63 minutes looked to have secured Portlaoise a famous win over Camross, however, The official score by the referee is 5-12 to 2-22, with many saying that the actual score was 5-13 to 2-22.
In the Molly Precast and Environmental Systems Offaly Senior Hurling Championship, champions Kilcormac-Killoughey and Belmont played out a draw with Conor Slevin levelling proceedings in the final minute to make it 0-15 each.
Coolderry were 2-22 to 2-14 winners over last season's beaten finalists Ballinamere with Daniel Miller scoring 2-2 off the bench.
Shinrone claimed 0-19 to 0-17 win at home to St Rynagh's, while Birr had a comfortable 0-31 to 0-15 victory over Seir Kieran.
