Fitzpatrick is one of a record 33 Irish female players taking to the AFL field this season.
Laois' Erone Fitzpatrick has been named to start in her new club's first game of the AFL season.
Carlton FC will field Fitzpatrick in their halfback line for the regular-season opener against Gold Coast Suns on Saturday.
The former O'Moore County footballer made the move earlier this year in May.
Gold Coast finished their campaign in 9th, with Fitzpatrick's Carlton finishing in 14th.
A record thirty-three Irish players will take the field this season with sixteen Irish Counties represented.
Mayo lead the pack with six players with Tipperary a close second with five.
Fitzpatrick is the only player to hail from Laois, Offaly or Westmeath.
