Willie Maher's side were on the wrong end of a 2-32 to 18 points scoreline, at the hands of Tipperary.
Willie Maher had a difficult return to Tipperary on Saturday, seeing his Laois hurlers dispatched with ease in their national league opener.
The 20 point defeat will give the Laois panel pause for thought, against opponents that beat them by just four points in the same fixture last year.
Tomas Keyes offered some resistance, hitting four, while PJ Scully got six, five of which were from frees.
The game finished 2-32 to 18 points.
