Martin Russell's side welcome relegated Waterford to Lissywoolen tonight for a 7:45pm kick-off.
The club continued recruitment for the new season last night announcing the signings of attackers Gary Armstrong and Aaron Connolly.
Armstrong joins from Sligo/Leitrim District League side Carbury FC, where he has been prolific in the last couple of seasons, scoring some important goals in the FAI Junior Cup.
The 26-year-old began life on the books of Sligo Rovers and most recently had a spell with Ballinamallard United in the Northern Irish Championship.
19-year-old Connolly, who is comfortable in midfield and in a more attacking role, joins after coming through the academy system at Shelbourne.
Speaking to the club ahead of the season, goalkeeper Michael Schlingermann:
We're looking forward to the season opener against the league favourites at home.
We know it will be a very tough night as they have a lot of quality but things have come together in recent weeks and we are prepared for the opposition.
Hopefully we can get a positive start and be competitive once again this season.
