Further Success For Athlone Duo At World Junior Rowing Championships

They're putting in some fine performances in Bulgaria this week.

Both Athlone men have qualified for the semi-finals at the World Junior Championships. 

The men's quadruple sculls including Donagh Claffey finished second in their repechange behind Italy. 

They were three seconds adrift of the Italians in a time of 6.01.86 which is good enough for a place in the semi-final row.

Meanwhile Martin O'Grady was in the stern as Ireland won their repechage in the double sculls event by four seconds in a time of 6:34.12. 

Slovenia were second, followed by South Africa, the USA and Latvia. 

Those semi-finals take place on Saturday.
