Offaly’s Grainne Walsh last night joined Roscommon's Aoife O'Rourke and Westmeath's Patsy Joyce in securing at least bronze at the tournament.
Walsh defeated Yang Liu of China in the 65kg bout, while Joyce claimed a split decision win over Uzbek veteran Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov in the 55kg.
Today is a rest day for the boxers and the Irish trio will be in semi-final action over the weekend.
Joyce nearly missed out on his bronze medal fight after sustaining a double cut in the previous round.
The Mullingar man bounced back though to win over his Uzbekistan opponent yesterday with a 3-2 victory.
