It was the second week of hurling championship action across the country.
Laois and Westmeath suffered heavy defeats in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship on Saturday evening.
Missing key players through injury, Laois were always likely to be up against it facing Kilkenny at Nowlan Park.
And it proved to be a tough evening for Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett's men, as they lost by 2-34 to 1-14.
Laois are without a long list of starting players due to injury, and 'Cheddar' says they faced an uphill task:
Next up for Laois is a clash against Wexford in Portlaoise next Sunday afternoon.
Elsewhere on Saturday evening, Galway also racked up a heavy score when beating Westmeath in Salthill.
Henry Shefflin's side had already scored 2-25 by the break, and it ended 3-37 to 1-17 at Pearse Stadium.
Westmeath Manager, Joe Fortune, says they found life difficult in the first half conditions:
Westmeath host Dublin in Mullingar next Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Offaly were made to work hard for a nine-point win over Meath in the Joe McDonagh Cup on Saturday.
Belmont clubmen David Nally and Leon Fox got the first half goals for Offaly as they won out 2-22 to 0-19 in Tullamore.
They face the trip to Ballycran next Sunday for a must win game against Down.
