The Clara man is asking for people to be kind to Rory McIlroy.
Shane Lowry has come out to bat for Rory McIlroy after the drama that ensued during his final round at the US Open on Sunday.
McIlroy, in position to win a first major in over ten years, missed two short putts in his last four holes, to surrender a two shot lead to Bryson Dechambeau.
The Holywood golfer says he'll be taking a break to process the disappointment.

While his long time friend Lowry is saying what McIlroy went through is "as tough as it gets" in golf, and is asking people to "be kind" to the four time major winner.
From the outside looking in… this game is easy. But in reality it’s the worst game of all. We are very fortunate to get what we do from this game but over the last 24 hours it’s hit me. We do it for not only ourselves but for our family, friends and fans. What Rory has gone… pic.twitter.com/2z7hl4CqmF
