Irish Out In Force As Lowry Prepares To Take On Memorial

The Clara man found some improved form at the PGA Championship last time out.

Denmark's Marcus Helligkilde is tied for the lead on day one of the European Open in Hamburg. 

He is 3 under par, a shot ahead of the chasing pack with Max Kieffer.

Of the Irish, Tom McKibbin is even par after 16 holes, with John Murphy 1 over par through 15. 


On the PGA Tour, Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, and Seamus Power are in the field for the Memorial Tournament, which begins today in Ohio. 

After a difficult season, Lowry found some of his best golf in Oak Hills for the PGA Championship last time out.

The 2019 Open champion managed 73-67-71-69 over the four days to finish on level par and in a tie for 12th.

The Memorial tournament is hosted by Jack Nicklaus and McIlroy says he would love a first win in the event.
