Irish Snooker Stars Could Soon Be Based In Midlands

An application has been lodged with Laois County Council to build the first ever permanent home for the sport in Ireland.

An application has been lodged with Laois County Council to turn a former car showroom into the National Headquarters of Snooker & Billiards Ireland.

If successful it'll be the first of it's kind in the UK and Ireland as no other association has a permanent base.

It would also be used as a centre of excellence for current players such as Cork sensation Aaron Hill and potential stars of the future.

The building is located on the Portlaoise road just outside Graiguecullen.

A decision is due on the application on April 4th.
