Joe Fortune is reflecting on another disappointing weekend for the Lake County.
Westmeath's opening day defeat to Kerry is what derailed their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign.
That's what Lake County boss Joe Fortune is saying after watching his side rescue a late draw away to Down on Saturday.
His side trailed to the men from Mourne for nearly the entire contest until a last gasp Tommy Doyle point rescued a share of the spoils.
That result leaves Westmeath with no possible chance of making the championship final after going three games without a win.
Fortune says his players were damaged by that loss in Mullingar last month:
The final score in Ballycran was 3-19 to 1-25.
Westmeath return to action at home to Meath on Sunday week.
